The three economic ministers of the Baltic states met in Riga today and agreed on a roadmap for the creation of the Rail Baltic joint venture.

At Estonia's suggestion, the Polish and Finnish ambassadors to Latvia also participated in the meeting, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced.

The three ministers signed a joint Rail Baltic Declaration, which addresses the next steps in establishing the joint venture.

The most important aspect of the declaration is that Estonia will soon organize a ministerial meeting on Rail Baltic, to which the ministers of Finland and Poland will also be invited.

Finland and Poland will be proposed to participate in the joint venture on an equal basis with the Baltic states. The preparatory work necessary for the establishment of the joint venture will be completed by the end of July at the latest.
